Privacy Policy

Last updated 31 August 2026

The short version. Adults hold accounts. Children do not. A player exists as a profile containing a first name, a last initial, an optional jersey number and an optional position, and nothing else. We never ask a child for an email address, a birthday, a photograph, or anything they type. We show no advertising, and we share nothing with anyone.

Who we are

10kHockey is operated by 10kHockey. You can reach us at support@10khockey.com.

Accounts are for adults

Only parents, guardians, coaches and association administrators hold accounts. Accounts are created by invitation: an association invites administrators, administrators invite coaches, and coaches invite the parents on their roster. There is no open sign-up, and no path anywhere in the app by which a child creates an account.

What we store about a player

InformationWhy
First nameSo the player recognises their own row
Last initialSo two players with the same first name are distinguishable
Jersey number (optional)Same reason
Position (optional)Used only to suggest which shot type to practise
Shooting sessionsA date, a shot type and a count: the point of the app

We do not collect, and the app has no way to store: a child's email address, date of birth, full surname, photograph, home address, phone number, precise location, voice or biometric data, or any free text a child types. A player's age band is held on their team, never on the child.

What we store about an adult

Your name, your email address, a securely hashed password, your notification preferences, and, if you turn notifications on, a device token so we can send them. We record when your account signs in, and we keep an audit record of administrative actions such as corrections to a player's totals.

Parental consent

A player profile can only be created by an adult who confirms they are that player's parent or legal guardian. We record that confirmation (who gave it, when, and the exact wording they agreed to) so that consent is demonstrable rather than assumed.

Who can see a player's information

We do not sell personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it for behavioural advertising, and the app contains no advertising or third-party analytics software of any kind.

Notifications

Three, and no more: a daily reminder at a time the guardian chooses, a weekly recap, and an alert when a badge is earned. All of them go to an adult's device. Nothing is ever sent to a child's device. Each can be turned off individually in Settings.

How long we keep things, and how to delete them

A player's shooting total is kept for as long as they are on an active roster, which is the whole point of a lifetime total. Once a profile is deleted, it and all of its history are permanently erased within 90 days. A closed adult account is erased within 30 days.

You can delete a player profile at any time by opening that player in the app and choosing Delete this player, and your whole account from Settings. You can also request deletion from this website without reinstalling the app. Settings also offers a full export of everything we hold about your account.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored using scrypt, a memory-hard hashing function, and are never recoverable in plain text. Access to a player's information is checked on every request against the roles above.

Children's privacy

This app is designed so that children never provide personal information to us directly. If you believe a child has somehow provided us with information beyond what is listed above, contact support@10khockey.com and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will notify account holders by email and update the date at the top of this page.
